• Heather Gardner, M.S.N., R.N. – Beckman Coulter
Heather's team develops innovative E-HR clinical decision support tools using artificial intelligence and machine learning. Working with the sales and service part of the team, Heather focuses on educating and implementing new, innovative software. Heather has been an emergency department nurse for 30 years. Prior to Beckman-Coulter she worked as the Program Manager for Clinical Informatics at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Emergency Department (ED), a Magnet-designated level-one urban academic medical center.
Sophia brings 29 years of healthcare expertise to her role as a Clinical Consultant at Beckman Coulter, specializing in Clinical Decision Support (CDS) for Emergency Departments. Previously, she held a similar position at a healthcare start-up, Stocastic, before it's acquisition in 2022. With 22 years at the Adult Emergency Department at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Sophia's leadership roles as Lead Triage Coordinator and Lead Shift Coordinator/Flow Manager drove improvements in patient flow and outcomes.
• The problem of health care spending is complex and multifaceted. There is no easy solution, but as the healthcare industry continues to search for ways to improve outcomes and have fiscal balance, there has been a rise in models that center on the principles of value-based care. Nurses, who are the largest group of health professionals, have a great role to play in working to find the best possible outcomes for patients using these new and challenging models.
