Active ALPs

The Biomek FXP deck has 20 positions that can be configured with various Automated Labware Positioners ("ALPs"). ALPs are configured for standard labware positioning (Static ALPs), as well as for application-specific tasks (Active ALPs). ALP functionality ranges from plate shaking to filtration.


 

Biomek Device Controller 

The Biomek FXP device controller module is designed to supply eight (8) digital outputs to control digital devices on the Biomek FXP/FX work area. The Biomek FXP/FX software controls the devices through the Biomek device controller module.

Positive Positioning ALP 

Provides automated clamping and positioning of 1,536-well plates for access by the Biomek FXP 384-Channel Pipettor. The plates are clamped by a solenoid for reliable pipetting operations. The clamp is relaxed during non-use periods, thereby reducing potential heat build up. Multiple Positive Positioning ALPs may be integrated onto the Biomek FXP work area as needed.

Biomek FX Disposable Tip Loader ALP 

The Biomek FXP Disposable Tip Loader ALP provides automated loading and unloading of all types of AP96 or AP384 disposable tips for the Biomek FXP 96-or 384 channel pipettors. The tips are loaded via pneumatic pressure for reliable loading, thereby minimizing the stress on the pipetting system. Requires: 40 PSI clean dry air, 2.5 cfm. Maximum of 4 Tip Loaders may be integrated onto the Biomek FXP work area.

Biomek FXP Disposable Tip Wash ALP, 96-Channel 

Washer ALP

The Tip Wash ALP provides a constant flow of liquid into 96 individual channels to wash the exterior of the pipetting tip. The inside of the tip is washed by aspirating and dispensing from the flow of liquid. The tip wash ALP reduces running costs by curtailing or eliminating the use of tips. Multiple tip wash ALPs can be configured for differing liquids or for specific pipettors.

Includes wash station, wash pump, supply tank, and drain/waste tank, ALP platform. Tip Wash ALPs can be configured in the outer most columns and back row of instrument. NOTE: Requires Biomek FXP Device Controller (P/N 719366). The Biomek FXP Disposable Tip Wash ALP 96-Channel is controlled by the Biomek FXP System Software via the by the Biomek FXP Device Controller. The washes can be manually configured or automatically configured.

8-Channel Tip Wash ALP 

For washing Biomek FXP Span-8 Fixed Tips. Includes drain/waste tank and ALP platform. Can be located in the outermost columns and back row of instrument. NOTE: Uses system liquid for rinsing via syringe pumps. Faster washing can be provided using the optional Biomek FXP/FX Speed Pump (P/N 719653). The Tip Wash ALP provides individual cavities where system liquid flows through each of the eight channels to clean the interior of the tips. The exterior of the tips are cleaned as the system liquids overflows each cavity. Multiple tip wash ALPs can be configured for differing liquids or for specific pipettors.

User must supply reservoirs and a circulator bath with the following minimum specifications: Range: -20deg; C to 100° C; Flow Capacity: 7-15 L/minute; Max Pressure: 2.1 PSI; Reservoir Capacity: 6 L; Heating Capacity: 1,000 W; Cooling Capacity: 120 W at 0° C.
