Educational Partnerships

Beckman Coulter is proud to support schools and organizations in our plant communities that are dedicated to enhancing classroom teaching of science, math and technology.

Students and teachers also gain exposure to the work world when they interact with Beckman Coulter employees at school-organized science fairs or during visits to the company's Heritage Exhibit.

Inner World Discovery

Inner World DiscoveryBeckman Coulter is a proud sponsor of the Inner World Discovery Program designed by St. Joseph's Medical Center emergency room doctor Phillip Silverstein M.D., the "Inner World Discovery" program is a multimedia journey through the human body. With Dr. Silverstein as their guide, students participating in this session will experience the wonder, intricacies and elegance of the human body’s immune system. This interactive videoconference presentation with Dr. Silverstein will make the complexities of understanding the immune system accessible to students, and will make real the devastating effects of HIV. The program, a curricular supplement, is scaled for high school health and science classes.

Exploratorium

Beckman Coulter is a strong supporter of the The Children’s Educational Outreach Program -- "Exploratorium". Through this partnership, Exploratorium conducted 18 Family Science Nights, hosted 45 students for five weeks building portable laser light shows and turbulent orbs, completed 7 professional development workshops for afterschool organizations and held over 16 one day community workshops with schools, community groups and hospitals.

Exploratorium brings science to the forefront for underserved students in the in-school and after-school environment. By making science accessible and engaging, Exploratorium promotes an interest in science while supporting and enhancing educational programs.

Sister-to-Sister, National Women's Heart Day

Beckman Coulter partnered with the National Heart Association’s Sister-to-Sister Program on National Women’s Heart Day in Miami. Included were free heart disease screenings and healthy heart prevention information packets.

The Museum plays an important role supporting early learning, language development and school readiness of young children by meeting the needs of the community in which it resides.

Orange County Science & Engineering Fair

As a community leader, Beckman Coulter has supported the Orange County Science & Engineering Fair for the past 5 years by providing a forum to challenge students to develop inquiry-based, hands-on investigations in science and engineering.

The Children's Initiative: San Diego

Beckman Coulter supports the Children’s Initiative "Science Link" Program in San Diego, CA. After school academic science, math and technology programs are developed for low-income families to promote and prepare students for higher education. In 2005, more than 320 students participated in the "Science Link" Program.

Minnesota Children's Museum: Science Squad

Since 2004, Beckman Coulter has provided generous support to the Minnesota Children's Museum science programs. The Science Squad Program has become a dynamic way to increase youth-volunteer interactions and impact with museum visitors. Science Squad is a group of young volunteers, ages 14 - 18 that help enhance the museum’s science-focused exhibits.
